Our Mission

To support the financial cost of maintaining the German language programs in the Miami-Dade County schools outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the district and the German Government.  Specifically this includes paying for the cost of teacher salaries where such need is identified by the district to a) maintain the quality of the language programs and b) the level of opportunity at Sunset Elementary School, Henry S. West Lab Elementary School, GW Carver Middle School, Coral Reef Senior High School, and other schools as needed.

To provide a comprehensive and authentic German educational and cultural experience for the students and parents participating in the German language programs.  This includes hosting various member and community events that pay tribute to German heritage and provide families with the opportunity to experience the traditions, cuisine, music and elements of German culture.

To support and promote educational excellence in the field of German studies by providing scholarship opportunities for our high school students.

To promote the continued use of the German language by developing and supporting a German library in our schools for students to be able to read authentic works by German authors.

To seek opportunities to promote and assist the growth of the German language in South Florida by  supporting schools who demonstrate the ability and willingness to develop German studies programs that meet the criteria set forth by the German consulate and the German Language Advisor.
