Our Mission
- To support and sustain the German language programs within Miami-Dade County Public Schools as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the School District and the Government of Germany. Specifically, this may include paying for the cost of teacher salaries where such need is identified by the district to a) maintain the quality of the language programs and b) the level of opportunity at Sunset Elementary School, G.W. Carver Middle School, Coral Reef Senior High School, and other schools as needed.
- To provide students and families participating in the German language programs with a comprehensive and authentic German educational and cultural experience. This includes organizing and sponsoring member and community events that celebrate German heritage and promote appreciation of German traditions, language, cuisine, music, and culture.
- To support and promote educational excellence in German studies by providing scholarship and academic enrichment opportunities for high school students enrolled in German language programs.
- To encourage and promote the continued use and appreciation of the German language by developing, maintaining, and supporting German-language libraries and literary resources within participating schools, thereby providing students access to authentic works by German authors and educators.
- To advance the growth and development of German language education throughout South Florida by identifying and supporting schools that demonstrate the commitment and capacity to establish and maintain German studies programs consistent with the standards and criteria established by the German Consulate and the German Language Advisor.
