(German Consul General Annette Kein and GIPA president Ted Ballard open the 2016 GIPA Oktoberfest.)
Congratulations on a fabulous Oktoberfest celebration. Our good fortune with the weather enabled us to enjoy fantastic food, fun and a truly festive atmosphere.
Thank you to all of the many volunteers who assisted with so many tasks - from parking to pick up - decorations to desserts - set up to silent auction and so much more. We simply could not host this wonderful event with out the support of literally an army of people who make it all possible.
While it will be some time before all the numbers are accounted for, there is every reason to believe that this was another extremely successful year. The rides and classroom attractions brought in record numbers this year and we sold out of nearly every food and beverage item we had. Next year more water we promise !!! When the final tallies are in, we will be sure to share that information with everyone, but the success of the event ultimately is measured by the grand coordination and cooperation it takes from a group made solely of volunteers in pulling off something on this scale.
We would once again like to thank our hosts - the German American Social Club - and remind our families to go support their Oktoberfest events this weekend and next weekend. In addition, the GASC needs volunteers to help staff their event. There are specific times and jobs for which they need help; please sign up for a shift at http://signup.com/go/J7zV27. It may not be obvious to the casual observer, but it is part of GIPA's agreement to use the club's facilities that we will help staff their event. The more people who help, the less the burden will fall on a few, so please sign up for a shift now.
In the coming days, we will be sending out links to our Oktoberfest photo albums - courtesy of our fantastic photographers - Gisele Widmer & Kirsten Eisfeldt. Look for these on our website and facebook pages.
Congratulations and thanks to all once again.

Family Fun Day Pictures
The second GASC Family Fun day was held last spring in conjuction with the GIPA spring meeting. President Ballard had already posted the presentation from the spring meeting, but now we have some photos from the fun day provided by Gisele Widmer.
