MAGNET SCHOOLS APPLICATION PROCESS
How To Apply
- The Magnet Schools application period runs from October 1st through January 15th.
- All magnet school applications must be submitted through the Miami-Dade County School District Magnet Application website. You will find detailed information on application and eligibility requirements on that website.
A distinct advantage of our IS program is that IS students enjoy priority matriculation from elementary school to the middle and high school IS programs. However, to ensure that students meet the minimum requirements for each school, Miami-Dade County requires all currently enrolled German IS students to submit an application to the next school through the regular Magnet Schools application process.
Please refer to the Miami-Dade County Magnet Schools website for deadlines and specific application requirements for each of the magnet schools. While the German International Parents Association is here to support you throughout the application process, it is important to note that we are not able to influence admissions decisions. All admissions decisions are made exclusively by the Miami-Dade County Public School District.
NEW STUDENTS: All applicants to a German International Studies (IS) program school must complete the online magnet schools application as well as an in-person interview, which may include an entrance exam (oral and/or written). Thereafter, successful applicants are admitted into the German IS program by lottery conducted by the Miami-Dade County Public School District.
CONTINUING STUDENTS: All students currently enrolled in a German IS program school who wish to matriculate to the next German IS program school (i.e. Sunset Elementary to Carver Middle, or Carver Middle to Coral Reef High) must submit an application through the normal Magnet Schools application process. This indicates to the District that you intend to continue with the German IS program and additionally enables them to ensure that your student meets the minimum requirements of the next level of the program.
