As part of the IB curriculum and the “Deutsches Brauchtum” initiative, on October 7, 2019 students of the German program at Coral Reef Senior High School enjoyed an “Erntedank” breakfast.
What is “Erntedankfest”? In many countries around the world, people set aside time to give thanks or celebrate a harvest. There is evidence that “Erntedankfest” celebrations already happened five thousand years ago. In Germany, Erntedankfest (“ thanks for the harvest festival “) is a holiday, and people, especially in the southern parts of Germany, celebrate this day with parades and by decorating places with sheaves of wheat and the fruits of the harvest.
A big “thank you!” to GIPA parent and CRHS VP Stephan Eberhagen for coordinating this cultural event.
