The Coral Reef High School National German Honor Society was excited to contribute to this year’s GIPA Oktoberfest. Kellin Lyons, the Honor Society’s volunteer coordinator, created a new online sign-up system for student volunteers, allowing for a smoother, more organized way to sign up and coordinate all the students who helped to make this event such a success. The student volunteers collected tickets and watched the rides, the rest were spread out in the kitchen, the snow cone booth, and wherever else help was needed. The face painting booth was organized by Jessica Gomez, the Honor Society’s activities chair, and run with the assistance of other members of the board. The children very much enjoyed having their faces painted with colorful creations. A favorite among the high school students was a German flag painted on their cheek. Honor Society member Nils Kuczurba organized a wood burning booth, where he and other student volunteers created cute decorative wooden pins, a favorite among the moms.
