Sarah and her family moved to Miami from New York in July of 2016. Even more thrilling than realizing they would no longer need to shovel snow in January was their discovery of GIPA and the German International Studies program! Sarah’s two boys previously attended a bilingual German/English school in New York, which they began as kindergarteners, so it was important to Sarah and her husband, who is German, that they continue with their German education.
Sarah joined the GIPA Board in 2016 and has served as Newsletter Editor (2016-2018), GIPA Book Editor (2018-2019), and Communications Manager (2018-2019). Sarah is currently serving as the Website Manager and News Editor, and helps out with photography and design projects as needed. In her role as Communications Manager, she designed and launched a new responsive website for the organization, and also designed new marketing and sponsorship materials.
Prior to moving to Miami, Sarah was the marketing director at German International School New York where she led the school through a full-scale brand redesign, including the creation of the school’s first-ever strategic marketing plan, and was instrumental in boosting enrollment in the school’s lower grades. Sarah has also worked in financial services marketing for American Express OPEN and Bloomberg, spent several eventful years on Wall Street as a market data analyst, and worked in software licensing at Oracle Corporation.
Sarah received an MA in Sociology and a BA in Communication from Stanford University, and later earned an MBA at Columbia Business School where she specialized in marketing and entrepreneurship.
When she isn’t volunteering with GIPA or exploring Florida with her family, Sarah can be found behind the lens of her camera or glued to her laptop designing websites and marketing materials for creative professionals and small businesses. She still does not miss shoveling snow.
