Melinda was born on the Island of Trinidad but moved to St. Croix, USVI, when she was 10 years old. There she attended University of Virgin Islands, where she earned her BA in business and marketing. After some time, she started working at St. Mary’s School on St. Croix as the development officer. It was at this job that she discovered her love of teaching and then moved to Miami to become trained and certified as a math teacher. After receiving her teacher certification in Secondary Math at FIU, she taught for three years at South Miami Middle School until she was married in 1997 and moved to Munich, Germany with her husband. Melinda lived in Munich for 15 years, working in television production and as a mom to her two daughters, Josephine and Marcella. In 2013, the family decided it was time to move back to Miami. Since then, they have been a part of the German program and members of GIPA here in Miami.
