Art has been updating the GIPA web site, running the email list, and managing the member database since 2010. When Art moved to Miami in 2000 he began working at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. Initially, he focused on using satellite data for communications and mapping projects, then began increasingly to focus on underwater imagery for seabed mapping. Since 2009, Art has been a scientist in UM’s Physics Department, where he develops underwater cameras and other instrumentation for mapping the world’s oceans. Art and his wife, Louise, have two sons currently in the German IS program: David, who is at Carver now after 7 years at Sunset Elementary, and Peter, who is at West Lab Elementary. In addition to his work with GIPA, Art is a volunteer leader for Cub Scout Pack 361, Boy Scout Troop 362, and St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
